Launch of Yutong E9L Electric bus on 570/571/572 & 574 routes
On Monday 1st September, Sophie and Andy Repton were joined by Val Sexton and Mark Turner from Surrey County Council and Ian Downie from Pelican Bus and Coach to launch our first zero-emission, electric bus. The Yutong E9L will predominantly serve the 570, 571, 572 and 574 routes in Surrey and we’re delighted that the vehicle has been secured with partial funding from Surrey County Council.
The vehicle was well received by passengers, who appreciated the passenger-focused, modern interior. The vehicle is fitted with seatbelts, air-conditioning and USB type A and type C ports throughout the vehicle for passenger comfort and convenience. Passengers also commented on the smooth and comfortable ride as well as how quiet it was for passengers onboard.
Sophie Repton, Operations Manager, said
“We are delighted to have received such positive feedback from customers and other members of the public today. We have worked with Julie and Ian at Pelican, who have made the transition to our first electric bus as easy as possible. As a small, local operator, we have been excited to start our journey of electrification of our bus fleet and so far, the E9L has proved to be a perfect fit for us. We are proud to be the smallest operator at the present time to operate an electric bus on a Surrey County Council supported route.”
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK commented
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Andy and Sophie on this project. Their exacting standards have resulted in a fantastic vehicle being produced that will serve the Surrey residents with distinction for years to come. Reptons may be the smallest operator, but the care and attention they received was the same if they had ordered multiple vehicles.”
